Raveendran Kodakkad, Associate Director of Karshaka Vidyapeedam, is set to develop his diversified farm in Kasaragod as a Farm Field School with recognition from KVK Kasaragod and the Kerala State Biodiversity Board. The initiative brings together traditional rice conservation, integrated farming and practical agricultural education.

കേരള സംസ്ഥാന ജൈവവൈവിധ്യ ബോർഡിന്റെ ധനസഹായത്തോടെ കാസർകോട് ഐസിഎആർ–കൃഷി വിജ്ഞാന കേന്ദ്രം നടപ്പാക്കുന്ന കാർഷിക ജൈവവൈവിധ്യ സംരക്ഷണ പദ്ധതിയിൽ കർഷക വിദ്യാപീഠം ഡയറക്ടർ അബ്ദുള്ള ഇടക്കാവിനെയും അസോസിയേറ്റ് ഡയറക്ടർ രവീന്ദ്രൻ കൊടക്കാടിനെയും സംരക്ഷക കർഷകരായി (Custodian Farmers) തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

കളനിയന്ത്രണത്തിന് വർഷങ്ങളായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന വീഡ് മാറ്റുകൾ കർഷകരുടെ അധ്വാനവും ചെലവും കുറയ്ക്കാൻ സഹായിക്കുന്നു. പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക്, കയർ, ചണനാര് തുടങ്ങിയ വസ്തുക്കൾകൊണ്ടുള്ള മാറ്റുകളുടെ ഗുണങ്ങളും പരിമിതികളും ജൈവവിഘടനശേഷിയും കേരളത്തിലെ നിർമ്മാണസാധ്യതകളും പരിശോധിക്കുന്നു.

കുറഞ്ഞ സ്ഥലത്ത് പല തട്ടുകളിലായി പച്ചക്കറിക്കൃഷി നടത്തുന്ന സിംഗപ്പൂരിലെ ഗ്രീൻഫൈറ്റോ ഫാം ശ്രദ്ധേയമാകുന്നു. വിപണിയുടെ ആവശ്യത്തിനനുസരിച്ച് ഉൽപ്പാദനം ആസൂത്രണം ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ സംരംഭത്തിൽനിന്ന് കേരളത്തിന് എന്തെല്ലാം പഠിക്കാം? ലംബകൃഷിയുടെ സാധ്യതകളും ചെലവും വിപണിയും വിലയിരുത്തുന്നു.

സൈബർ ഫോറൻസിക്സിൽ ബിരുദാനന്തര പഠനം നേടിയ അതുൽ കൃഷിയെ ജീവിതവഴിയാക്കി. കുടുംബകൃഷിയിലെ പരിചയവും സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യയും കൃഷി ഓഫീസറുടെ പിന്തുണയും ചേർത്ത് കാർഷിക സംരംഭം വളർത്തുന്ന യുവാവിന്റെ പ്രചോദനാത്മക അനുഭവവും അതു നൽകുന്ന വികസനപാഠങ്ങളും.

കാർഷിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിന്റെ നിലവാരം ഉറപ്പാക്കാൻ പ്രത്യേക കൗൺസിൽ രൂപീകരിക്കുമെന്ന കേന്ദ്ര പ്രഖ്യാപനം വിദ്യാർഥികൾക്കും അധ്യാപകർക്കും കാർഷികമേഖലയ്ക്കും എന്ത് നൽകും? ഐസിഎആറിന്റെ പങ്ക്, പൊതുമേഖലാ–സ്വകാര്യ കോളേജുകളുടെ നിലവാരം, കേരളത്തിലെ പുതിയ പഠനാവസരങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയുടെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ ഒരു വസ്തുനിഷ്ഠ വിശകലനം.

ലോക ഭക്ഷ്യദിനത്തിൽ ഭക്ഷ്യസുരക്ഷയുടെ യഥാർത്ഥ അർത്ഥം പുനഃപരിശോധിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ട്. ഉൽപ്പാദനവർധനയ്ക്കൊപ്പം കർഷകന്റെ സാമ്പത്തികസുരക്ഷയും ഉപഭോക്താവിന് പോഷകസമൃദ്ധമായ ഭക്ഷണത്തിന്റെ ലഭ്യതയും ഉറപ്പാക്കണം. കാർഷിക പദ്ധതികളുടെ വിജയം അളക്കേണ്ടത് ചെലവഴിച്ച തുകയിലല്ല, കർഷകർക്കും സമൂഹത്തിനും ലഭിക്കുന്ന യഥാർത്ഥ നേട്ടങ്ങളിലാണ്.
